Americans for Prosperity Foundation, will premiere the documentary, “Making the Grade in Georgia: Educational Freedom and Justice for All,” at 7 p.m. Thursday.

The live Internet event will stream from the Cobb Galleria in Marietta to house viewing parties around the state including other large viewing events in Albany, Ellijay and Rome.

The film takes a critical look at public schools in Georgia. It will be followed by a panel discussion. ERNIE SUGGS

Kaiser Permanente of Georgia opened its first location outside of metro Atlanta this week in Athens as part of an ongoing expansion.

The $3.5 million Athens Medical Office -- 2142 West Broad St. in Building 200 -- includes 13,000 square feet of exam and procedure rooms, a laboratory, an on-site pharmacy and basic radiology services. It is the 12th medical office added as part of Kaiser’s expansion. The nonprofit health plan has more than 240,000 members statewide. MISTY WILLIAMS

The annual Project Overcoat drive will run from Jan. 7 through Jan. 21 as part of an effort to help people stay warm during the winter months.

The goal is to fill request for as many as 46,000 new and gently-used coats and blankets for disadvantages men, women and children. Communities agencies will distribute the coats and blankets.
