Fulton commission to hear from Kenny, assessors board chairwoman
Two weeks after county commissioners asked for his resignation, assessors board member Rick Kenny will appear before the panel Wednesday, along with assessors Chairwoman Salma Ahmed, to tell his side of the story. Commission Chairman John Eaves wrote a letter April 7 asking other assessors board members to urge Kenny to quit, after an AJC article revealed he was disciplined by the state last year for being "negligent" in overappraising a duplex.
Ahmed would not say what position she will take, though she has previously defended Kenny. JOHNNY EDWARDS

Atheist groups to protest Cobb prayer breakfast
The Atlanta Freethought Society and American Atheists are planning a protest rally at Cobb County’s 27th annual prayer breakfast on May 5.
The groups are opposed to the county government’s support for a religious exercise, and resent taxpayer money being spent to promote prayer, group leaders said Friday. The rally will take place outside the breakfast at the Cobb Galleria Centre.
Shan Cooper, vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, will be the keynote speaker. The breakfast is held in observance of the National Day of Prayer. JANEL DAVIS
