The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety took to its Facebook page Thursday to warn residents of some recent suspicious activity.

Police said two men tried to lure a teenage girl into their car Tuesday evening. The incident occurred in Tuxford, an Alpharetta subdivision off Kimball Bridge Road that features tennis courts and a swimming pool.

According to a police report, the girl and a friend were walking home from the pool area on Tuesday around 8 p.m. After her friend turned off to go home, the girl continued walking to her home alone.

Soon after, according to police, a bearded black man in his “early to mid-20s” driving a white sedan pulled up alongside her and told her to “get in.” She told him “I’m OK,” but the man persisted and asked her, “You don’t need a ride?” She told him no and then a male passenger told her to “get in.” She again said no, and the driver then turned around and sped away down Sandridge Court.

After the incident, the girl quickly went home and told her parents, who then alerted police.

The vehicle is described in the police report as “worn down” but “shiny,” as if it had been recently cleaned. The girl said the men never exited the vehicle and never made a direct threat to harm her.

Posting on Facebook, Alpharetta police said: "While no crime was committed in this case, it certainly was suspicious activity, and we're so glad we were notified. We'll continue to keep our eyes open for the involved vehicle. We don't feel that our community or specifically, the Tuxford area, is in any immediate danger, and we've not received any additional reports regarding this incident. We'll update our community if there is anything else to report in this case."

The police report notes that extra police patrol of the Tuxford subdivision has been requested.

Anyone with information about this incident can contact the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety at 678-297-6300.
