A developer has high ambitions for a corner of Hugh Howell Road and Mountain Industrial Boulevard in Tucker.
Stephen Macauley put in applications to build a mixed-use development on 88 acres, which would be called "Nexus Tucker." The original plans included a movie studio and hotel, which have been nixed, though there is still plenty on the table if the city council approves.
The plans call for a small city: 616 apartments, 242 senior-living units, 122 townhomes, 43 houses, 160,000 square feet of retail space, and more. The development also calls for an elementary school and an amphitheater.

City staff expressed doubts about the project and recommended officials deny, according to a report.
Residents spoke out in favor and against the project at the council's meeting Monday night, according to the city.
The council is expected to vote at the next meeting, which will be Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library.
