The West End MARTA station reopened early Saturday after authorities investigated a pair of suspicious packages.

The packages were discovered about 11 p.m. Friday at the station on Lee Street, according to Atlanta fire Lt. J. Wright.

"One package was detonated, and the other was retrieved and safely secured while on the scene," Wright said.

The rail station was closed to passengers and trains while the packages were investigated. MARTA used buses to ferry passengers around the station.

MARTA and fire officials have not released information on the contents of the packages.
