MARTA officials don't know yet if a man killed when he was hit by a MARTA train Thursday was pushed, fell or jumped onto the trackway at the Kensington station during the morning rush hour.

"We're still investigating how this person came to be on the tracks," MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris said.

"There weren’t many witnesses at the scene at this time," he said, so investigators have interviewed the train operator and are reviewing surveillance camera video.

"Were looking at every possible angle," Harris told the AJC. "We don't know if there was any foul play, if this was intentional or if this was an accident."

Service to the Kensington station was suspended after the accident for about an hour-and-a-half and buses shuttled passengers between the Indian Creek and Avondale stations on either side.

Train service in both directions was restored by 11 a.m., but MARTA was using only tracks that ordinarily would be for westbound trains while the investigation at the scene continued.
