A MARTA bus was struck by bullets when it was caught in crossfire in southwest Atlanta on Friday night, police said.

It happened on Pearce Street near Metropolitan Parkway.

The preliminary information is that two people were on opposite sides of the road shooting at each other, Atlanta police spokesman Officer John Chafee told the AJC. The bus came in between the action and was struck several times.

"It appears that the MARTA bus was not the intended target of the shooting," Chafee said.

No one was injured, he said.

There have not been any arrests.
