Aug 9, 2015

The Marietta man struck by a car Thursday while crossing a local street on foot has died, police announced Sunday.

Authorities believe Gerald Mack was walking across Delk Road near Franklin Road at about 5:50 a.m. Thursday when he was struck by a Ford Focus. Mack, who was reportedly not in a crosswalk, was taken to Kennestone Hospital with injuries initially described as life-threatening.

He died at the hospital Saturday morning, Marietta police spokesman Jared Rakestraw said.

Rakestraw said Sunday his department’s traffic enforcement unit was still investigating the incident. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Rakestraw at 770-794-5357.
