Marietta Police Chief Daniel Flynn has been named the state's top cop for 2010.
The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police awarded Flynn its 2010 Outstanding Chief of the Year distinction Tuesday night in Savannah.
Flynn has been Marietta's chief since January 20o7, and was the head of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department from 2000 to 2006, leading that department through a city/county department consolidation.
Since his appointment to chief of Marietta, Flynn has implemented initiatives to improve the safety of officers and increase their access to information to help their jobs.
