One man was wounded and five others were being questioned after a shooting early Monday in northwest Atlanta, police said.

Police said they received a report shortly before 2 a.m. about a shooting in the 1800 block of Howell Mill Road. An officer told Channel 2 Action News the incident occurred in the parking  lot of Central City Tavern.

Another responding officer reported seeing a white Toyota occupied by five males speeding away from the location and running a red light at Defoors Road.

About two to three minutes later, Zone 2 Field Investigation Team members spotted the vehicle on Bolton Road and followed it until support units arrived, police said.

Officers surrounded the vehicle after it pulled into a Chevron gas station at 2020 Bolton, got the occupants out of the vehicle and saw a gun in plain view behind the driver’s seat, police said.

All five males were detained for questioning. No arrests had been made as of Monday afternoon.

The shooting victim, meanwhile, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with a single gunshot wound to an armpit, police said. His condition was reported as stable.
