Police are seeking a Gwinnett County man who allegedly kidnapped a woman he knew, took her to an abandoned apartment and raped her, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Arrest warrants charge Deivi Mauris Polanco with kidnapping, rape, false imprisonment and hijacking a motor vehicle in connection with the abduction of the woman the early morning of April 16.

The woman was returning home about 1 a.m. when a man wearing a mask pushed her back into her car, bound her hands and mouth and blindfolded her, police said. Channel 2 and the AJC do not identify victims of sexual assault.

"She was taken to a location and taken into an apartment where she was assaulted several times throughout the evening," Gwinnett County police Detective Shayla LaCosta told Channel 2.

The 31-year-old Polanco, whose last known address is an apartment on Treehouse Parkway in the Norcross area, allegedly took the woman another place off Graves Road and left her there. The woman chewed through the ties around her hands, LaCosta said.

"She was on the bottom floor of an apartment … an abandoned apartment,” the police detective said. “She was able to escape from a window that was open.”

Police did not say what led them to Polanco, who they described as a very dangerous fugitive, but said he and the victim knew each other. Investigators believe they know the motive for the attack, which they also would not discuss.

“We're trying to find him to get him behind bars and answer for what he's done," La Costa said.

There already was an active warrant charging Polanco with aggravated stalking, and police said the man has been arrested in the past for domestic violence. Police asked anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact them.
