Man shot during argument outside Gwinnett County home
A Gwinnett County man shot Tuesday night is expected to survive, thanks in part to the quick actions of police.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was shot in the leg about 9:45 p.m. in the 2300 block of Joyce Court near Snellville.
Gwinnett police Cpl. Michele Pihera said in an email that one of the responding officers “applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg to slow the bleeding while awaiting the arrival of an ambulance.”
The man was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville with injuries that Pihera said were not life-threatening.
“When investigators responded to the scene,” Pihera said, “they determined that the shooting occurred in the cul-de-sac of the street.”
She said the victim told investigators that he had a disagreement with three to five men in their late teens or early 20s.
“One of those males pulled a weapon and fired once, striking the victim in his leg,” Pihera said. “After the victim was shot, he went back inside his home to call 911. The males were last seen running behind the homes at the back of the cul-de-sac.”
She said investigators were attempting to identity suspects, and asked that anyone with information on the shooting call detectives at 770-513-5300.
