A metro Atlanta man said he has filed a complaint with the Roswell police after an officer pulled him over Tuesday while he was rushing his wife to the hospital.

Johnny White told Channel 2 Action News that his wife, Roxanna, who has stage 4 breast cancer, was having chest pains. An officer stopped him on Hembree Road for speeding. White said he tried to explain the situation and was told to prove it.

"Why would he ask me that?" he told Channel 2.

He said his wife was upset while looking for medical documentation. The traffic stop took about 15 minutes, according to White, and he was given a ticket for going 44 mph in a 25 mph zone. He soon asked the officer to call an ambulance, which took his wife to North Fulton Medical Center, less than two miles away, the report said. White followed in his car.

White said his wife was being kept in the hospital overnight.

Police said the officer was in line with department policy, and a spokesperson told Channel 2 that there will be an administrative investigation of the traffic stop.
