The man killed Saturday in a shooting at an Atlanta apartment complex that also left two women wounded was identified Monday as 31-year-old Shomari Grier.

Atlanta police Major Keith Meadows told Channel 2 Action News that Grier and two unidentified women were sitting on the front steps of the apartment at 514 Parkway when an argument may have began between Grier and another person.

“We do have some information to suggest that the victim may have been arguing with the suspect over possibly one of the females, but at this point we haven’t been able to confirm that,” Meadows said.

At least six shots were fired, leaving Grier with a wound to the chest. He later died at Atlanta Medical Center, police said. Victims were also taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

One of the women was shot in the stomach and the other was shot in the leg, police said. Their conditions were not available.

Bullet casings were seen in front of the apartment, where one of the women lived, police said.

“It's my understanding that the suspect is still at large,” Meadows told Channel 2. “We do have a person that we are detaining at this point and are questioning at this point.”

Meadows said police did not have a motive for the shootings.
