A man has been formally charged with kidnapping a woman and her daughter in July.

Daniel Robert Green, 34, was indicted Oct. 11 on two counts of kidnapping and single counts of burglary along with child cruelty, according to court records.

The man took the woman, who police said was his ex-girlfriend, and her 5-year-old daughter to his home in Jasper, about a 30-mile drive away, Cobb County police at the time of his arrest.

A warrant alleges that he broke open the woman’s front door and “forcibly removed” them from the home. It accuses Green of stopping the mother from calling 911.

Police said they found the door forced open and a broken phone. Their investigation led them to Pickens County, where they rescued the woman and the girl unharmed.

The warrant nor public court records indicate what sparked the alleged kidnapping.

Green remains in Cobb jail without bond on four felony charges.
