A man caught driving a stolen car was arrested Thursday after leading Atlanta police and Georgia State Patrol troopers on an early morning chase.
The chase ended when troopers performed a “PIT” maneuver, forcing the Chevrolet Spark to a stop on Ormewood Avenue near Moreland Avenue, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The car, which was stolen in a carjacking near downtown on Wednesday, was spotted by Atlanta officers on Moreland Avenue.
“We followed the vehicle at a safe distance until the Georgia State troopers were able to get in place and take the car down with a PIT stop,” Atlanta police Capt. Scott Kreher told Channel 2.
Police were trying to determine whether the man caught driving the car was the person who carjacked the vehicle, and planned to put the man in a lineup to see if the carjacking victim can identify him.
