A 70-year-old Gwinnett County faces a homicide charge for allegedly strangling his wife to death.
Alex Blatt, of Lawrenceville, was arrested Friday afternoon after he was released from Gwinnett Medical Center, jail records show. Blatt remained Saturday in jail, where he was being held without bond.
Blatt had been hospitalized since Monday afternoon, when investigators were sent to a Summerfield Way home to conduct a welfare check, police said. Inside the home, located in a neighborhood off Bethesda School Road, police found the body of 62-year-old Eva Blatt.
Investigators believe Alex Blatt strangled his wife and attempted to kill himself, but he survived his injuries. Police declined to say how the man tried to kill himself. Alex Blatt was in critical condition Monday evening as investigators executed search warrants at the home.
Police have not released details regarding a possible motive.
