Cobb County police on Sunday identified the man whose body was found near a busy roadway on Saturday as Derrick George Gray, Jr., 22, of Smyrna.
A woman walking Saturday afternoon on Circle 75 Parkway, off Windy Hill Road, spotted a shoe on a sidewalk and then a body in nearby woods, Officer Mike Bowman told the AJC. Gray's body was found about 300 yards from Windy Hill Road, near I-75, Bowman said.
The medical examiner was called to the scene. Police have not yet said how Gray died.
Investigators believe a car may have been parked in the area between 4 and 6:30 p.m. Anyone that may have seen anything suspicious is asked to contact the Cobb County police Crimes Against Person Unit at 770-499-3945.
