Gwinnett County authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in an abandoned house on Auburn Road in Dacula.

The dead man was identified as Scott Johnson, 43, of Calhoun, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Police said they were alerted to the body on Aug. 3, when an anonymous caller dialed 911 from a pay phone. The caller said he was in the home looking for scrap metal when he discovered the body under a bed.

Officers responded to the residence and found a man’s body in the location described by the caller. The house had been vacant for more than 10 years, and property owners have had to deal with people trespassing on the property before, police said.

There were no signs of foul play, police said.

Johnson had an extensive history of arrests, mostly for alcohol and drug-related charges, police said. An investigation was continuing.
