A suspect was arrested Friday in connection with a rash of recent burglaries in a Marietta neighborhood.
“Over the course of the previous week, Marietta experienced a spike in residential burglaries, all of which were concentrated in and around a neighborhood in Zone 2,” Marietta police Detective Christopher Lindsey said Saturday.
Lindsey said investigators, using a combination of fingerprint evidence, field contacts and surveillance, identified Moises Sanchez Jr., 28, “as the prime suspect in at least one of the burglaries.”
Sanchez was taken into custody at a motel in the 500 block of Cobb Parkway near Allgood Road that is within walking distance of the area where the burglaries had taken place.
“A subsequent interview of Sanchez and search of his hotel room led to the discovery of numerous items stolen in the recent burglaries, including electronics, jewelry, rare coins, luggage, clothing and a bicycle,” Lindsey said.
Sanchez, who Lindsey said is on active parole for a previous burglary, was charged with one count of burglary and is being held without bail in the Cobb County Jail. Further charges are pending, Lindsey said.
