Lovejoy city council to meet Monday on mayor's resignation
The Lovejoy City Council will meet 2 p.m. Monday in a special-called meeting in the wake of Mayor Joe Murphy's resignation Friday.
Murphy, who has served in some elected capacity for two decades, could not be reached for comment Friday. Murphy resigned to spend more time with family, said City Manager Sebastian Jackson.
Mayor pro-tem Bobby Cartwright will serve as interim mayor until an election can be held, Jackson added.
