The Lilburn City Council voted Monday to extend the window of opportunity for a package store to open under an already approved alcohol license. The Branded Barrel package store under construction on Pleasant Hill Road will not be able to open within three months of receiving a city alcohol license, as is stipulated in the ordinance.

The city alcohol license is subject to the state license so that the Branded Barrel can start selling at their package store. The owners were working diligently to obtain a certificate of occupancy and state approval. However, they have been subject to a temporary restraining order due to deed restrictions and subsequent litigation that has prevented them from completing construction and opening for business.

The City Council approved an extension through June.
