A project that’s been rumored and discussed for at least two years recently broke ground in the triangle between Winn Way and North Arcadia Avenue just inside Decatur’s eastern city limits.

The development will cover two acres annexed into the city a decade ago and include 101 apartments and a two-story parking garage. The apartments will be housed in three three-story buildings, and there is no retail component.

According Brett Oliver with developer CF Real Estate Services, the apartments break down to 70 percent one bedroom and 30 percent two bed. The first units should open by the end of this year.

This project is adjacent to and across North Arcadia from a proposed 9.7-acre project calling for, among others, 289 apartments and a 50,000 square foot grocery long rumored as Publix. As of now on-site demolition and beginning construction should begin by the second quarter of this year.
