Johns Creek officials considering an unusual solution to traffic backups at the State Bridge/Medlock Bridge intersection will seek additional input for solutions. The city will also solicit ideas for improving traffic flow at one of North Fulton’s most pronounced bottlenecks.

Public Works Director Tom Black briefed council members Monday night on the “ThruU” concept used in Michigan and elsewhere, under which re-routed left turns pass through an intersection, make a U-turn and then turn right, eliminating left-turn signals and creating more green-light time.

After council member Stephanie Endres raised doubts about its workability, the council agreed to create a button on the city website to gather feedback. Black will examine other possible improvements at the intersection, which backs up through several light cycles during rush hour.
