Johns Creek seeks input on plan update

Johns Creek is reminding residents that it wants their comments on an update of its comprehensive plan, a document that would direct future development in the North Fulton community. The city is required by law to adopt the update to the comprehensive plan by November 2018.
The plan, adopted in 2008, seeks to preserve and protect residential neighborhoods and carefully management future growth, officials say.
Among the draft plan’s recommendations: Reduce the pace of future development, eliminate new townhomes in “residential character” areas, restrict mixed-use projects to a handful of existing shopping centers and a condensed portion of Tech Park, limit mixed-use density, and reduce mixed-use building heights from eight to five stories.
A draft update was released in June. A public hearing will be held prior to the draft being sent to the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) for review. The public comment period will continue until the City Council takes final action on approving the plan.
