Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker has not given up his quest to get the city its own ZIP Code.
The City Council has given Bodker a green light to work with U.S. Rep. Tom Price to convince U.S. Postal Service officials to create a unified ZIP Code for Johns Creek.
The city has been trying to get its own Post Office and ZIP Code since it was incorporated in December 2006.
The Postal Service will allow most people to use Johns Creek as their hometown, and as long as the street address and ZIP Code are accurate, letters and packages should arrive without a problem. However, because residents and businesses are served by post offices in other cities, the Postal Service also recognizes those addresses.
Johns Creek has six ZIP Codes, all based in other cities: 30097 and 30098 in Duluth; 30005 and 30022, in Alpharetta; 30024, in Suwanee; and 30076, in Roswell.
