Johns Creek  is teaming with Keep North Fulton Beautiful and Home Depot to sponsor a hazardous waste disposal day Saturday at the Home Depot, 5950 State Bridge Road.

The service is for Johns Creek residents only.

“A lot of people don’t want to just throw toxic liquids and material in the landfill so they hang on it,” said James Swope, Johns Creek Solid Waste manager. “This gives them an opportunity to dispose of it in an environmentally sound manner.”

Materials accepted are:  paints, solvents and cleaners, aerosols, herbicides and pesticides, motor oil and anti-freeze, mercury, batteries, TVs and electronics, propane cylinders, fire extinguishers and smoke detectors.

There is a limit of 10 gallons of paint per household.

The program cannot accept medical waste or needles, ammunition, pharmaceuticals or non-hazardous items.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited.  Register at www.KeepNorthFultonBeautiful.org. For more information, email info.keepnorthfultonbeautiful.org or call 770-551-7766.
