Johns Creek has called a special election for April 18, with three days for qualifying next week, to fill the City Council seat for Post 4.

The seat was vacated in February when Council Member Bob Gray resigned to run for Congress. Gray’s term runs through Dec. 31, 2019.

Qualifying dates will be Monday through Wednesday, between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 and 4:30 p.m., city officials said. Qualifying will be held in the city clerk’s office at Johns Creek City Hall, 12000 Findley Road, Suite 400. Qualifying fee is $450.

If no candidate receives a majority of votes April 18, a runoff will be held June 20 between the two highest vote-getters.

Gray is one of a number of Republicans seeking the 6th Congressional District seat of U.S. Rep. Tom Price, who resigned to become President Donald Trump's health secretary.

Tom Price’s congressional seat is vacant since he accepted a position in the Trump administration.
