Janvieve Williams has been appointed coordinator of a program to strengthen the rights of Afro-descendant populations of Central America for the Office of the High Commissioner of Human Right's Regional Office for Central America.
Williams will be based in Panama through March 31, 2012. She will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project. She has extensive experience in domestic and international programs for grassroots-based organizations that focus on racial discrimination and human rights.
Until her appointment, Williams was executive director of the Latin American and Caribbean Community Center.
Until her return, Sunyata Altenor will assume the role of executive director of LACCC.
