As Hurricane Florence hits the Carolina coast, the Atlanta Humane Society is housing cats who have escaped the storm’s path.

Atlanta’s animal shelters have taken in 86 animals from storm ravaged areas so far, many of which are cats, a spokesperson from the Humane Society said.

In an effort to create more room at Atlanta’s Humane Society for additional animals displaced by the storm, the organization is waiving all adoption fees this weekend for cats that are six months or older.
