Sardis Methodist Church and Cemetery passed the Georgia National Register Review Board this month after being nominated by the. Buckhead Heritage Society. It will be nominated for a listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
Sardis Methodist Church -- which became became Sardis United Methodist Church in 1968 -- has been along Powers Ferry Road since the mid-1800s. There have been at least three church buildings with the current one completed in 1927. The cemetery's headstones carry names of Buckhead's early settlers. Information at www.buckheadheritage.com.
