Henry County’s Extension Office is trying to help residents better understand their eating habits and learn ways to prevent or reduce the risk of chronic diseases.

The county has launched Walk-a-Weigh, an eight-week program that focuses on nutrition and exercise to help shed pounds and improve health. Each session includes a short presentation, a taste test of a low calorie recipe and exercise.

The program, which costs $15 to participate, begins on  Feb. 3 and meets again on Feb. 10, 17 and 24 and March 2, 9, 16 and 23. Classes are from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Extension Office, 97 Lake Dow Road in McDonough.
