Henry County and the PATH Foundation have entered into a budget agreement for the engineering and construction of a multi-use trail from Panola Mountain State Park to Austin Road Middle School.

It was approved by the Board of Commissioners at its Oct. 6 regular meeting. The cost estimate to build the trail has doubled to $1,865,000 because of environmental factors and issues crossing Hwy. 155, so the PATH Foundation and the county have substantially raised their contributions.

The county will now pay $211,000 in cash and $157,400 through in-kind services, in addition to repurposing $435,000 in grant money initially awarded for a trail at Nash Farm Park.
