Jonathon “J. P.” Penn has been appointed to oversee Henry County’s parks and recreation operations as well as its services for seniors and the extension services department, the municipality has said.

Penn, whose title will be Senior Cluster Leader for Leisure Services, most recently was director of parks and recreation for the city of East Point.

“I am looking forward to providing and implementing new ideas and thoughts to create an enhance quality of life for the residents of Henry County,” Penn said in a statement.

Penn holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Morehouse College in Atlanta and has worked in the field of parks and recreation since 2007.

He is a member of the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) as well as the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association.
