Henry County school board approves putting E-SPLOST back on ballot
The Henry County Board of Education voted at its Oct. 12 regular meeting to approve a resolution calling for a March 2016 vote on a one-penny E-SPLOST. The special purpose local option sales tax for education would take effect as soon as the current one expires and last for five years.
The resolution presented by Superintendent Rodney Bowler would cap the E-SPLOST collections at $225 million and also include on the ballot a question of whether the school board can issue $325 million in bonds for a variety of projects, the debt service of which would be paid by the E-SPLOST.
