The Henry County Building and Plan Review Department has implemented a new electronic system that allows plans and permit applications to be received online. The new software will enable the county to eliminate the current paper-based system and improve turnaround times for customers, saving time and money, according to county officials. Some paper plans that are drawings are still being submitted, but the entire process is expected to be electronic by the end of the year. Information: www.henrycounty-ga.org/building.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
