The top administrator for Henry County announced his resignation Wednesday, a day after an investigation about him concluded.
County manager Jim Walker’s last day is Sunday. The announcement comes while Walker is on paid administrative leave. He was placed on leave on April 28.
“It was a personnel matter that is not being released,” county spokeswoman Melissa Robinson said Wednesday. The human resources department did the investigation, which concluded Tuesday, Robinson said. Results of that investigation now go to the county commission. Walker has been with the county about a year. Assistant County Manager Cheri Hobson-Matthews will run the day-to-day operations of the county until a new county manager is hired.
In his resignation letter released Wednesday, Walker said he plans to “pursue other professional opportunities.”
More than 200,000 people live in Henry which has an annual budget of about $130 million.
