Two court employees in Henry County have been arrested and charged with allegedly dealing marijuana on courthouse property in McDonough, Channel 2 Action News reports.
Kimmie Elliott of Stockbridge allegedly sold marijuana to Lisa Anthony. Elliott, 45, works in the Henry County Solicitor General’s office and was charged with felony drug dealing. Anthony, 46, a court clerk, was charged misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Investigators told Channel 2 the pair is believed to have been dealing for about eight months.
Responding to complaints that the two employees might be involved in drug activity outside the courthouse, the Flint Circuit Drug Task Force placed the pair under surveillance about a month ago.
Police arrested the women on Friday in the parking lot of the courthouse -- across the street from the McDonough Police Department.
"It did come as a shock,” Maj. Chad Rosborough of the task force told Channel 2. He said that police assisted by a K-9 unit “searched the vehicle and found a half ounce of marijuana and ultimately got some confessions that they were buying and selling some drugs in the parking lot."
Police said they believe this was an isolated incident.
