The Henry County Board of Commissioners voted rewcently to approve what officials called a “reset” to its pay grades and starting salaries for public safety employees.

Additionally, more than $2 million was included in the budget for the upcoming fiscal year for this purpose. The move affects the police department, fire department, sheriff’s office and 911 department.

Officials said in the past five years the police have seen an 80 percent attrition rate with employees under five years of experience.
