A convicted sex offender has been arrested after sending nude photos and videos to a 10-year-old girl and trying to arrange a meeting with her, warrants from Gwinnett County say.

Dale Phontaine Mickens, 32, of Lawrenceville, has been charged with electronically furnishing obscene material to minors, using computer service to seduce or solicit a child, obscene internet contact with a child and child molestation by electronic device. He was convicted of statutory rape in 2010, requiring him to join the Georgia sex offender registry.

Mickens was chatting with a 10-year-old girl online over a period of six weeks, warrants say. During that time period, Mickens sent the child photos of his genitals, videos of him masturbating and detailed descriptions of sex acts he wanted to perform on her, according to the warrants. Mickens asked the 10-year-old to send him photos of her nude and in her underwear, and “discussed plans to meet with the minor in order to perform said sex acts,” the warrant says.

At some point, the police were notified of the messages Mickens was allegedly sending to the child, and a Gwinnett County detective began chatting with Mickens while posing as the child. Mickens was arreasted on Oct. 5.

He is being held in the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
