Gwinnett commissioners agreed to renew a nine-month, $338,500 contract Tuesday, Sept. 1, for public safety uniforms. The contract represents a $2,727 savings over the previous contract.

These funds will provide uniforms for the Department of Corrections, Fire and Emergency Services, Police Services and Sheriff. A county analysis found an across-the-board 4 percent increase in the cost of uniforms due to an increase in manufacturing costs. Three of the four vendors used by the county agreed to hold pricing firm resulting in only a .07 percent increase for the next nine months.
