Gwinnett Medical Center's first coronary angioplasty and stenting procedure was performed Tuesday in its cardiac catheterization lab.
The ability to perform what is formally known as PCI, or percutaneous coronary intervention, is one component of what will be a full suite of advanced cardiovascular services at Gwinnett Medical Center. The hospital is constructing its Heart & Vascular Center at GMC-Lawrenceville, but is able to perform PCI services in its existing cardiac catheterization labs. The Heart & Vascular Center will open in early 2012.
Gwinnett Medical Center is a not-for-profit healthcare network with hospitals in Lawrenceville and Duluth.
