Gwinnett man charged with killing twin brother, shooting teen

Tyler Schulte has been charged with murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance in connection with a deadly November shooting.

A 20-year-old man has been charged with killing his twin brother and shooting a 16-year-old, Gwinnett County police said.

Tyler Schulte, of Buford, has been charged with felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance in connection with the shooting death of Blake Schulte, also a 20-year-old from Buford. Tyler Schulte was arrested Jan. 20. He and Blake Schulte are fraternal twin brothers, a department spokeswoman said.

Alexander Scott, 16, of Doraville, was shot in the Nov. 29 incident, sustaining injuries that were not life-threatening but required surgery.

Police found Scott with a gunshot wound on Express Lane in Buford around 3 a.m. Nov. 29. Three hours later, they found Blake Schulte dead in a car parked on a dirt path near Friendship Road and Duncan Ives Drive in Hall County.

Police declined to release further information about the case Monday morning.

Tyler Schulte was apprehended by Gwinnett County police and U.S. Marshals on Jan. 20 at his grandmother’s house near the location where Scott was shot, according to a police report. He is being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.
