The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners will get a briefing on the proposed 2011 budget on Tuesday.

Former Chairman Charles Bannister had been scheduled to deliver a preliminary budget to commissioners on that day. But Bannister resigned Oct. 8, and the proposed budget won’t be unveiled until December.

Last month county department heads outlined their preliminary budget requests at a series of public briefings. Among their requests: 50 new police officers, 30 new sheriff’s deputies and 42 more fire department employees.

Commissioners will hear the latest on the budget process at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the commission office at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville.
