A Gwinnett County Chinese restaurant failed its recent health inspection, with officials noting lax employee hand-washing, improperly stored food and a dirty ice machine.
China Wok, located at 4155 Lawrenceville Highway in Lilburn, received a 52/U on its Wednesday afternoon inspection.
According to the inspector's report, an employee was seen handling raw chicken with gloves on, removing the gloves and putting new ones on without first washing their hands. Raw beef and shrimp were stored over ready-to-eat food in the walk-in cooler, which also held "multiple containers" that were not properly covered.
“Ice machine interior was not cleaned to sight and touch,” the report said.
In addition, walls in the food preparation area and a shelf by the cooler were “not clean,” officials noted.
A follow-up inspection will be completed by Oct. 6. The restaurant’s permit will be suspended if it fails, according to the inspection report.
Attempts to contact China Wok were not immediately successful Friday morning.
