Gwinnett Animal Welfare will host Holiday Pet Portraits for families and pets with some well-known holiday characters 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at 844 Winder Highway in Lawrenceville. Portraits are free with a pet food donation.

“Our pet portrait event is the perfect day to capture the joy of the holiday season with our furry family members,” said Alan Davis, manager of the Animal Welfare and Enforcement Division.

Gwinnett Animal Welfare will be open for adoptions throughout the day and will be offering adoption gift certificates for those who are looking to give the gift of a pet.

“Gift certificates are the perfect way to allow the recipient to be actively involved in choosing the perfect best friend for them,” Davis said.

As part of the monthlong Home for the Holidays campaign, 10 selected animals will be free each week and Free Fridays will continue throughout Dec. All pets adopted at Gwinnett Animal Welfare have been vaccinated, neutered and microchipped and are ready to go to their new home.
