A community group has raised $7,700 to buy 38 trash cans for MARTA bus stops in East Point.

The MARTA Army, a nonprofit group, says only 5 percent of East Point bus stops have trash cans. As a result, litter accumulates on the ground, negatively affecting property values, health and crime.

So far 130 people have contributed money to the effort. For more information or to make a donation, visit www.cleanstop.org. Donations will be accepted until Sunday.
