A report of a live hand grenade led police to evacuate three apartment buildings in the North Buckhead area of Atlanta on Monday afternoon.
A call came in around 4:20 p.m. for a grenade found ion the 4500 block of Wieuca Road NE, police said.
"The Atlanta Police Bomb Squad responded and took possession of the item," Atlanta police Officer John Chafee told the AJC in an email. "It appears that it may have been live. The item will be rendered safe and disposed of."
The scene was cleared by about 7:45 p.m., Chafee said. No other information was immediately available.
