Heavy grease clogged a sewer main Thursday afternoon on Thornridge Drive in Tucker, dumping more than 3,600 gallons of raw sewage into Peachtree Branch Creek.
DeKalb County crews were able to stop the overflow by turning off the water and pressure washing the sewage main.
The county plans a $1.35 billion overhaul of its water/sewer system to meet a federal consent decree to prevent such spills in the future. The first phase, of about $500 million, is set to begin early next year.
