The DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management responded Monday to a sanitary sewer spill, which discharged into South River.

A worker arrived at 16202 Waldrop Cove off Panthersville Road in unincorporated Decatur and found a manhole overflowing into a storm drain just before noon, according to a spill report. The report estimated 1,400 of sewage was discharged.

The blockage was cleared about an hour after it was reported.

The county notified the health department and the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.

DeKalb's report said the spill into South River was "minor."
